This application incorporates four key components:
1. A structured pathway for leadership development – combines existing and new initiatives to develop leaders through a leadership career pathway incorporating three program targeting three levels of leadership, with focus on the three key areas of rice industry leadership – corporate management, international business and trade; research, development and extension and policy and advocacy..
2. An alumni network – a bi-annual alumni event and online tools and resources for engagement – to strengthen the existing leaders’ network and take advantage of the collective knowledge, skills and experience.
3. A Rice Industry Leadership Officer – responsible for delivering the Leadership Program. Will form part of the RGA team and work closely with the other industry bodies.

Objective Summary
The RGA aims to establish a self-replenishing cohort of rice industry leaders who are diverse in knowledge and experience and skilled, self-aware and confident enough to take on the many and various leadership roles presented by industry and related stakeholders.
Developing strong and effective industry leaders is essential to assisting the rice industry to structurally adjust to the many drivers of change influencing the industry, and to continue it’s economic, environmental and innovation success.
We note that this objective is also shared by the Rice Program Five Year Research, Development & Extension Plan 2016/17 to 2021/22, with one of the strategies identified for Objective Four as being: ‘Human capital – support industry capacity building in a targeted way.’
