Summary
NRIA has been established as originally a special project by RIRDC and now as a ‘not for profit’ private company, limited by liability. The objective of NRIA is to allow for a greater degree of direct capacity building and commercialisation of R&D IP for the benefit of new and emerging plant, animal and associated regional industries. NRIA will collaborate strongly across public and private sectors to advance the progress and profitability of these industries for their own benefit and in the national interest of Australia.

Objective Summary
Research & Development objectives will vary considerably across a wide range of plant and animal industries. In broad terms the objectives will always seek to positively advance the commercial attributes of these industries, mitigate against potential bio-security threats or assist in adaptation to changing economic drivers such as the new carbon economy (Carbon Farming Initiative). The intent of NRIA collaboration within R&D projects is to always advance the best interests of new and emerging industries vice retain R&D IP in-house, unless there is a specific, compelling reason for doing so.
