What does a Feedmill Hand do?
Feed Mill Hands assist with all areas of the mill operations, including receiving raw ingredients, scheduling feed production and deliveries, controlling stock levels, weighing trucks, and testing grain.
Previous experience is not required as training in all aspects of feed milling is provided.
Feed Mill Operatives need a good attitude and a willingness to learn and contribute.
What does a Hatchery Process Worker do?
Hatchery Process Workers play a crucial role in the effective and efficient operation of the hatchery to produce healthy, high-quality chicks.
Hatchery Process Workers have a variety of tasks including egg receival and storage, incubation and hatching, chick take off and processing, and cleaning and sanitation.
They need to have a positive attitude, pay attention to detail, be able to work as a team in a busy environment and perform repetitive tasks with precision.
What does a Breeder Farm Farm Hand do?
Breeder Farm Hands work alongside the Breeder Farm Manager doing the day-to-day work on meat chicken breeder rearing and breeder production farms. They are responsible for various tasks related to the care, feeding and welfare of meat chicken breeders.
Breeder Farm Hands need a ‘can-do’ attitude, be willing to learn, hardworking, physically fit and reliable. Previous experience is not required as all training is provided.
What is involved in a processing role?
Poultry Process Workers are responsible for preparing, processing and packaging all the chicken meat and chicken meat products that Australians eat.
Poultry Process Workers work throughout the entire chicken meat production line. The specific duties and tasks of a Poultry Process Worker depend on which part of the processing plant they work in.
To be a Poultry Process Worker you need to be hardworking, motivated, reliable, willing to learn and work well in a team.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for the program, applicants must:
- Be looking for an early career opportunity
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident able to work in Australia
- Have a current driver’s licence to get to and from work
- Be available to attend the face-to-face study component (outlined below in the timeline)
Participants will be selected on the basis of their commitment to working in the industry, availability for positions and alignment of interests with the industry.
